Salary Range: M-1, Pay Grade 1, Local 66 Contract

Term: 40 hours/week - 12 months

Hours: Approximately 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

  

Job Goal: 

To perform a variety of constructions, installation, remodeling, and repair duties in the maintenance of District buildings.

                                               

Qualifications:              

  • High school diploma, technical training preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Minimum of “Second Class” boiler license, with Chief license, preferred - willingness to obtain First Class boiler license and Chief boiler license
  • Pool certification obtained within one year of hire
  • Demonstrated skill in written and spoken communications
  • Experience in building/grounds/cleaning and maintenance required
  • Demonstrated skill in: welding/metal, wiring/electrical/plumbing, sheetrock/plaster, wood/cabinetry, glass/windows, caulking/sealants, gym floor finishing, boiler work, pool/chlorinating, concrete brick, etc., small engines, sheet metal fabrication, grounds and yards, drop ceilings, locks, and hardware, excavation, quarry/ceramic tile, painting,  fans/motors/air units, sound systems, intercom, pneumatics, sewers, lifting sound systems, intercom, pneumatics, sewers, lifting, roofing
  • Ability to lift 100+ pounds
  • Self-starter, highly motivated
  • Ability to bend and lift frequently, occasional heavy lifting, other duties associated with heavy work, frequent reaching and climbing 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for heating systems
  • Plumbing-repair and maintain all types of plumbing district-wide
  • Carpentry-repair and build new district-wide
  • Welding district-wide as needed
  • Swimming pool repairs and maintain to health department standards
  • Athletic fields layout and maintenance. Lead lawn crews and work with lawn chemicals and machinery repair district-wide
  • Lead youth work programs district-wide when programs are available
  • Recommend maintenance and custodial supply purchases for district
  • Keeps inventory of maintenance and custodial supplies and distribute
  • Work with Superintendent, Facilities Engineer, and others as directed (i.e. contractors, Fire Marshall, architects, building inspectors, health department, etc.)
  • Use power tools such as radial arms, table saws, band and circular saws, routers, grinders, and drill presses with standard safety procedures 
  • Perform standard electrical repair and maintenance procedures
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Interpret and work with the National Electrical Code
  • Replace broken glass, repair, replace or maintain exhaust fans, compressors, air handling units, pneumatic controls, univents, walk-in coolers and freezers, appliances, commercial ovens, stoves, steamers dishwashers, garbage disposals, etc.
  • Snow shoveling, dirt shoveling, blacktop work, pickup and delivering of commodities and school supplies, locksmithing
  • Work within building codes, water standards, fire codes, material safety data sheets, OSHA laws
  • Install or replace sinks, toilets, urinals, drinking fountains, faucets work, valves, showerheads, unplug drains and sewer lines, repair wells, pumps, septic wells, pumps, septic systems, etc.
  • Lawn maintenance, lawn maintenance equipment repair
  • Paint finishing as needed
  • Work at heights on ladders and lifts to change lights, roof repair
  • Perform building engineer jobs as needed
  • Responsibility to secure building as directed
  • Repair a variety of school equipment including desks, chairs, lockers, and office equipment
  • Other duties assigned by the Superintendent, Facilities Engineer, Principals, staff, and public
  • Perform general custodial duties as assigned 

Working Conditions: Some weekend and night work on call as emergencies unfold

  • Weekend building checks
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to lift/carry/push 100+ pounds
  • Some evening activities
  • Communication is necessary with staff and superintendent
